Virtual reality therapy is an effective therapeutic intervention that is specifically designed to enhance CBT for agoraphobia, social phobia, PTSD and specific phobias. In our center we are using virtual environments to overcome the fear of flying, heights, public speech, indoor and outdoor space, storm, also, virtual environments to improve the skills within the interview and physical relaxation..

Evidence for the effectiveness of VRT

Practice confirms the science. VRT is an effective exposure therapy because of its behavior scientific basis, based on changing dysfunctional conditioning which leads to outbreak of irrational fear in the individual, to the new functional conditioning through presentation of real secure information. Its strong side is direct exposure to stress stimulus (like in a real situation) in reducing avoidance, and thus fear..

Technology by it self cannot solve the psychological problem. But it is an auxiliary tool in the hands of the clinician supporting the client.
How does it look, a typical VRT session?

The psychotherapist assess the problem and are needed at least 3 psychotherapeutic sessions for the preparation and gaining confidence, before entering the client in the virtual world. Then follows the treatment by placing a virtual mask through which audio and visual the client is transferred in virtually real situation that poses a problem for him. The virtual environment is controlled by the therapist and fully customized in terms of virtual exposure that is 45 to 50 minutes and maintained within our therapeutic area.

The causes of psychological problems are determined by biological, psychological and sociological factors. The biological changes that occur during mental disorders, indicates that during the ongoing treatment is necessary to include drugs to improve symptoms of the client. In our center the treatment choice makes the psychiatrist helped by psycho diagnosis of the psychologist. Every client is different and responds differently to the treatment, so therapy choice is made depending on the professional assessment of the therapist in terms of client evaluation and treatment. According to this, some apply only to psychotherapy, others only pharmacotherapy and in some cases combination of both which gives an effective results. Drugs provide a relatively faster relief of the symptoms and cognitive behavior psychotherapy teaches the client to learn in more effective ways to solve life problems.

What is Cognitive Behavior Therapy?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is evidence based psychotherapy based on the principle of how people think (cognitive) and behave (behavior) is the result of the learning process. So everything that people have learned wrong in the past may try to learn it again properly with the help of professional CBT psychotherapist that teaches specific techniques and methods to feel happier. This means that CBT allows you to feel better by changing the way we think and behave, although the situation had not changed.

• Behavioral therapy (behavior-behavior) aims through the techniques and methods to identify and change useless behavior that occurs as a result of a scientific answer to the stimulus and consequences of a particular situation.
